Bistro Michel opened its doors on January 2015. It is owned by Michel Morand, former owner of Auberge Michel restaurant, which was the first restaurant in South Africa to be awarded the Five Star rating by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa.

Bistro Michel is conveniently and nicely situated in the Bluebird Shopping Centre just off Corlett Drive, a few minutes away from the famous Melrose arch precinct, which houses some of Sandton’s corporate companies, shops and affluent socialites.

The most interesting thing about Bistro Michel is its staff. Almost all its staff members have been with Michel Morand since the days of Auberge Michel restaurant and they have had the privilege to serve the who’s who of South Africa like former president Mr. Nelson Mandela, Minister Paul Mashatile, Mrs. Mbeki to name but a few, as well as International guests which included Bill Clinton, Sepp Blatter, John legend, Lionel Ritchie and numerous captains of world industry. Michel Morand’s staff has always made customers feel important and appreciated and they treat them as individuals.

The Bull Run Restaurant has fast built up a reputation as the business-lunch or dinner restaurant of choice in Sandton. You will find The Bull Run Restaurant opposite the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, only a short walk from the Sandton CBD, Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square. The restaurant is open Monday to Sunday 12h00-22h30.

The subtle décor, which includes raw brick wall and ambient lighting, of The Bull Run Restaurant ensures that the atmosphere is warm, relaxed and yet still conducive to any pre-dinner business dealings that may take place. Free WIFI is available for those who need to communicate with their office.

The Bull Run Restaurant is known for their prime cuts of exquisite South African beef and extensive selection of the finest Cape wines. The menu also offers a wide variety of starters which includes Spicy Wors and Smoked Springbok Carpaccio. The seafood selection is fresh and plentiful with oysters, mussels. Calamari, line fish, prawns or crayfish on offer. Chicken or ostrich and their unique salads and vegetarian dishes complete the variety on offer. After your meal you have the option of visiting the Bull Run’s well-stocked bar.

The Bull Run Restaurant can be booked for special events or corporate functions for groups of fifteen or more. Set menus are available, each one with a delicious selection of starter, main course and dessert. Drinks such as cocktails, wine, beer  or fruit juices can be served to your group on arrival.

The Theatre On The Sqaure in Sandton

Theatre on The Square

Experience the magic of the theatre at Sandton’s Theatre on the Square. The theatre is located on the northeastern corner of Nelson Mandela Square, between The Butcher Shop And Grill and The Sandton Library. The 200-seater theatre has shown well over a hundred productions including plays, musicals and children’s theatre. It also hosts corporate events, concerts and industrial theatre.

The theatre opens at 10:30am weekdays and at 16:00 on Saturdays. Tickets for the shows can be purchased or collected at the theatre’s box-office, which opens an hour before the start of each show. Performances usually take place Tuesdays to Fridays, at 8:15pm, and Saturdays at 5pm and 8:30pm. Management reserves the rights to change the times and dates of the performances so it is best to contact the Theatre on the Square to confirm show times.

You will find a bar and coffee bar in the theatre’s lower foyer, where you can order a drink before the show and it will be waiting for you at the interval. Patrons are also welcome to take their drinks into the theatre.

Plenty of secure, attended parking is available in the parking garages of Nelson Mandela Square. The theatre has two spaces available for wheelchair users and special toilet facilities. Please notify the theatre box office in advance to arrange for the theatre manager to be in attendance at the special ramp entrance into the theatre.

The Montecasino Bird Gardens offer educational and entertaining bird shows in the spectacular Tuscan amphitheatre. The colourful and talented show birds captivate audiences with breathtaking displays of unrestrained flight. The Flight of Fantasy Shows takes place twice a day between Monday and Friday, and three times a day over the weekend and on public holidays.

Flamingo Café

Inspired by the Montecasino Bird Gardens in which it is situated, Flamingo Café is a relaxing restaurant that overlooks the Flamingo pond. The Flamingo Café offers a selection of light meals, coffees and milkshakes while guests sit back and enjoy the tropical ambience of the Montecasino Bird Gardens. Flamingo Café is an ideal venue for kids’ parties and can host up to 90 guests.
